In Conversation with Annie McWilliam

You want a clean home, but not at the cost of the planet; That's the ethos behind  award winning, natural cleaning products brand, Colt and Willow. Not only are these products planet conscious, they are gentle on the skin and smell absolutely beautiful.

The all purpose cleaner is a go-to product for every kind of mess with a calming scent of geranium leaf and rose. The bathroom cleaner is great for a deep clean, from your toilet to tapware, shower to sink and has an uplifting fragrance of pine, spice and zesty lemon. However it is the grapefruit wonder scrub that really blew my mind, getting rid of that brown marks on my sink plug that I could never shift.

Packaging! There are biodegradable plastic alternatives out there but at the moment, they rely on your local council having the infrastructure to ensure they are composted correctly. Unfortunately, most councils currently don’t, so Colt and Willow uses amber glass that you can reuse and refill.

If you are looking for a low toxic life with no harsh detergents, no phosphates and no parabens, try these products. We are thrilled to chat to Founder, Annie McWilliam for a little insight into her life.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I have young children so it starts quite early most days! But always with a pot of lovely jasmine green tea, I try to get this in before anyone else is out of bed but that is very often not the case. Mornings are busy getting everyone out the door, but once they are out and off to school or nursery I like to go on a walk and blast out the cobwebs before sitting at my desk with my next pot of tea. I don’t work everyday as I still have a little one not at school so there are days when I am full time with my youngest or there are days when it's all about Colt & Willow - at least I try to keep it like that but as anyone who runs a small business and has young children knows it doesn’t always work like that!

Where’s your dream escape destination?

My husband is from Australia and honestly it's so amazing when we get to go back there, soak up the sun, eat amazing food, visit breathtaking locations. See our lovely family there they we don’t see enough of. I would love us all to one day get in a camper van and travel around it even more - that’s the dream to take 6 months off and travel around Australia with the girls.

What’s your vice?

Oh gosh - trashy telly, it's my wind down at the end of the day - I would love to say it was something amazing like yoga.

What are you listening to at the moment?

The one podcast I listen to religiously is called Mamamia out loud, it is an Australian podcast but they cover great topics and it's fun mixed in with the serious stuff.I also really love the podcast British Scandal, I find it so interesting whilst also funny.

Whats your favourite thing to eat?

I’m a real foodie so this is a tricky question to answer but my favourite meal is definitely brunch. I do also really love cake. What are you most curious about? People, we are fascinating. I could sit and people watch all day.

What’s the most memorable piece of advice you’ve received?

Be brave - you can do it!

What are your top 3 items at Caro?

I absolutely love the Adele dress from sideline, feel like it could be a summer staple.

Earl of East Greenhouse Room Mist

The Projekti TYNNY gingham table cloth - I have been searching for something exactly like this!
