In Conversation with Ariana Ruth

Ariana is a photographer, writer, visual storyteller and editor of the fabulous Table Magazine. A bi-annual magazine sharing and celebrating food culture and the people shaping it. With travel and design features too we always ensure we have a copy on the Caro shelves! Sharing food is certainly a universal experience and we couldn't wait to talk to Arianna about her love for Tahini, Laura Marling and her dream escape to Tasmania.

What does a typical day look like for you?

This last year with less in person meetings I've been able to take my mornings a bit slower. Enjoying a nice breakfast and a cuppa, before writing out a plan of action for the day. No day is ever the same, but I will usually try to catch up with various team members about what they're working on for the current issue and answer customer questions. All three founders of Table are freelance photographers, so there are many days during the week where I'll be on a shoot or doing post production.

Where’s your dream escape destination?

Oh my goodness, I have so many, especially after a whole year of not travelling! I'd really love to go to Tasmania. It looks like such a beautiful place and I've heard amazing things about the food scene there.

What’s your vice?

I've really been enjoying my Assam Jing Tea of late. I almost never start a day without it!

What are you listening to at the moment? (Music, podcast, audio book?)

I've been listening to a lot of Laura Marling for music as well as the 'How I Built This' podcast.

What's your favourite thing to eat?

Very hard to choose just one thing, but I love tahini, I put it on almost everything. Sweet of savoury.

What are you most curious about?

New business ideas. I love hearing about new brands, their products and how they envision the brand growing.

What’s the most memorable piece of advice you’ve received?

'Treat others how you want to be treated.' It's a classic for a reason and something my mum always would say to us growing up. I've always been thankful for following her advice.

What are your top 3 items at Caro?

Any of the pieces from the Caro x Kana collection, the Small Hebe Lamp and the Shinrin-Yoku candle.
