In Conversation with Sarah Bell

I was privileged to have first met Sarah when Evermore was just starting out. Both our businesses were quite different then - Caro was based in the shop at the front of my house and the B&B was also upstairs in my home rather than in the garden building. Evermore was one of the very first events we hosted, with a candle workshop in the kitchen. I remember coveting all the equipment she had with her, jars, wicks, stirrers, oils.

Evermore has packaging with serious shelf-appeal comprising of an impactful line of coloured boxes and a black glass vessel inside with gold foil lettering. With a very impressive stockist list, Sarah has grown Evermore into a successful business that also follows a sustainability framework split into product, people and planet.

Take a look at their collection, there's a scent to suit every occasion and room!

What does a typical day look like for you?
At the moment, no two days are the same! We’re currently living outside of London whilst our home is renovated. We’re lucky to be able to stay at our parents' and we travel back down to London for meetings when we can. A typical day back in London at the moment involves walking to our studio near Broadway Market, taking our dog to the park (if he’s with us), coffee, emails, meetings, sample testing, planning ahead for my maternity leave and then back to either the hotel or friend’s house that we’re staying at to watch Sex Education on Netflix - it’s the simple things that make me happy these days.

Where’s your dream escape destination?
Mexico has been on our bucket list for some time now. We were planning a big trip there pre-pandemic; we’ll definitely visit one day.

What’s your vice?
At the moment it’s sugar. Since falling pregnant all I want to eat is carbs, croissants and cookies.

What are you listening to at the moment?
I’ve recently been listening to Pandora Sykes, Doing it Right and New York Times, Modern Love. I’ve also just picked up Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You; really looking forward to starting it as it will be a nice break from pregnancy books!
Whats your favourite thing to eat?
If I was asked this question six months ago my answer might have been very different. My diet has changed quite a bit since falling pregnant and I’m finding myself drawn to carb based meals most of the time. At the moment it’s pasta, hands down - in particular the ricotta and sage butter ravioli at Campania on Columbia Road, London.

What are you most curious about?
Space and the universe. I’ve always been so fascinated by the skies above - astrology, moon phases, quantum theory - it really starts to blow my mind when I think about it all too much!

What’s the most memorable piece of advice you’ve received?
Kill them with kindness. I think it’s such a great rule to live by - never lower yourself to someone else’s level if met with confrontation or hostility. Keep your head high and always be the bigger person.

What are your top 3 items at Caro?
These beautiful dip bowls by Kana. I adore everything that Ana does, she’s great:

Big fan of these dungarees. I spotted the banded waist, which is perfect for accommodating a growing bump!
